Amazon notice: from 18 August 2025 offers without a valid battery registration number are deactivated. How to submit?

What does the sentence mean?

Why does the law require this?

The producer responsibility chapter of the EU Battery Regulation applies from 2025-08-18. Verordnung (EU) 2023/1542 Art. 96

Online platforms must obtain the producer's battery registration details and registration number. Verordnung (EU) 2023/1542 Art. 62 Abs. 6

Germany: register by brand and battery category before first making batteries available; without a German establishment appoint a representative. BattDG § 5 Abs. 1; BattDG § 40 Abs. 2
