Why does the law require it?
A product may only be placed on the EU market if an economic operator established in the EU is responsible for it. GPSR Art. 16 Abs. 1
The online offer must show the manufacturer's name and address and, where the manufacturer is outside the EU, the name, postal and electronic address of the responsible person. GPSR Art. 19 Buchst. a; GPSR Art. 19 Buchst. b
The responsible person's contact details must also be on the product, packaging, parcel or an accompanying document. GPSR Art. 16 Abs. 3
What do you do now?
- Decide who your EU responsible person is: an EU manufacturer, an importer, an authorised representative with a written mandate, or an EU fulfilment provider where there is no other operator. Verordnung (EU) 2019/1020 Art. 4 Abs. 2
